GREAT WALL OF WAT

These wonderfull WAT girls have completed more than 5 courses.

  • Jenny Baron
  • Abi Boyle- My few words are...
  • WAT has led me to meet and admire some amazing, gorgeous women who are all so different but joined by the desire to do something good for themselves, in doing so they inadvertantly do something good for others. Some achieve immense sporting achievements and others achieve getting off the sofa and getting to training. All brilliant achievements that make every Watette a great role model for some other woman. Well done Vic for being the ultimate motivator( Just don't motivate me too loudly this season!)
  • Janine Chapman
  • Marg Crowther-What does WAT mean to me?
WAT is unique! It feeds the body, spirit and soul to create the ultimate
self esteem cocktail peppered with copious amounts of exhaustion, laughs,
    fun, support and friendship.
WAT is about taking part, just giving things a go no matter your strengths
or abilities, allowing yourself to try and maybe being surprised at the
heights you can soar at physically and emotionally simply by doing.

  • Mel O'Brien- Wat WAT means to me:                                                                                                WAT's it all about? It's about you!! I'm not the first WAT chick and I won't be the last to say that WAT has changed my life. I was always extremely self conscious when playing sport or training with other groups as I was always the biggest girl in the group (and usually the loudest too!) From the first day I went to a WAT training session I was made feel so welcome and felt such a positive spirit that for the first time I wasn't even thinking that people were looking at me and thinking what is she doing here? I have gone from strength to strength in all aspects of my life since that very first Winter WAT Course.

My first triathlon was the first time I had set myself a goal and actually achieved it. It's the little things of WAT that are so special - like Sherree Rylands running with me telling me that yes I can finish the run during that 1st tri, listening to Suz Laidlaw's amazing story at High Tea and what she has achieved and overcome in her life, Vettee flashing her boobs or bum at a training session and Vicki's newsletters that you wait for each week to read and make you laugh and cry at the same time. It's amazing how many people are touched by and know of WAT - I get so excited when you talk to people (some strangers) and you tell them you do tri's with a group called WAT and they have either done a course, know someone who has or has heard of this crazy bunch of women. You really are part of a very special family. Never would I have thought in a million years that I would complete a Half Ironman race but it was Vicki and the WAT girls who got me through it and it was the most awesome day ever to have so many of "the family" in Busso cheering myself and all the other WAT girls in the race on that I will never forget it. Thank you Vicki for being the instigator of the WAT Spirit.

  • Ruth Tyson When my friends first mentioned WAT, I must admit I thought “what the?!!!”.  Soon after my first swim (flounder) session I wondered if I would remain friends with the friend who encouraged me to join up!!  Since then, WAT has become a huge part of my life – the training sessions are almost as important as the people you meet who inspire you and motivate you to remain involved and make you feel good about what you achieve.  Simply being involved in WAT is an achievement.  To have the motivation to get out of bed before the Sun and subject yourself to pain at the hands of Vicki Delves (as well as the other coaches), is no mean feat.  People who don’t have any involvement with WAT marvel at the stories you can share – both of the physical pain and social gain J.  The WAT Oscars are truly one of the highlights of each course and definitely keep me coming back for more!
